자이드 국립 박물관 (Zayed National Museum) 방문!

작년에 아부다비 사디얏 아일랜드에 오픈한
자이드 국립 박물관에 드디어 방문해 보았다.
(몇 번 미뤘는지 생각도 안 남, 라마단 때부터 가자 가자 했던 거 같은데ㅎㅎ)
솔직히 남편이나 나나 아부다비나 두바이 관광지인 곳은 딱히 지인이나 누가 손님으로 방문하지 않는 이상은 잘 안 가는 편이라 언젠가는 가겠지 하고 있던 중.
이번 주말에 International Museum Day 세계 박물관의 날 어쩌구 하면서 이번 주말에 여기 박물관들 입장료가 무료라는게 아닌가.
우린 사람 많은거 싫어해서 오늘 금요일에 무족권 가야겠다고 생각해서 행동에 옮김 ㅎㅎ

지인들 친구들 다녀온 사람들 마다 다 극찬이어서 궁금하긴 하면서도
60년도 안된 나라에서 박물관까지 지어서 딱히 그렇게 볼게 뭐가 많이 있을까 싶기도 했다.

기대했던것 보다 넘나 어메이징 했다.

자이드 내셔널 뮤지엄 입구

노만 포스터 디자인.
이 나라의 내셔널 버드(국조)인 매의 날개 모양을 모티브로 했다고 들었다.
입장료는 성인 70 디르함. 한화로 2만 8천원 정도.

건축 일을 하는 사람으로서
디자인에 놀라고 (개인적으로 외관보다 내부가 더 놀라움) 박물관 전시 플래닝에 놀라고 디테일에 놀랐다.
아부다비랑 아랍에미레이트 역사 공부도 하고.

그리고 돈이 좋기는 좋구나. ㅋㅋ
구경하면서 남편한테 여기서 돈냄새나지 않냐고 몇 번이나 말했던지 ㅎㅎ
여기 빌딩들이 다 이런 퀄리티로 지어지면 얼마나 좋을까.

아부다비나 두바이 아니면 아랍에미레이트 어디던지 와본 사람은 한 번쯤은 봤을 얼굴.
공항을 가나 호텔을 가나 쇼핑몰을 가나 어딜 가나 이 분의 초상화가 있다 - 법적으로 다 걸어야 함.

사진 너무 많이 찍었는데
눈으로 본 것보다 너무 덜 나와서 아쉬울뿐 ㅜㅜ

박물관 구경도 건축 구경도 다 재밌었다.
또 하나 인상적이었던 건
일하는 스태프들이 다 현지인들이었는데
다 젊고 친절했던 것. 자부감의 에너지가 느껴졌다.

아랍에미레이트에 사는 사람이라면 꼭 와봐야 할 곳
중동에 관심 있다면 와 보면 좋을 곳

박물관이나 랜드마크 건축에 관심 있다면 꼭 꼭 꼭 와봐야 할 곳.

솔직히 박물관은 관심에 없던 건축 분야였는데
여긴 내 기대와 관심사를 다 뛰어넘었다. 어메이징!

영문 - English version

We finally visited the Zayed National Museum, which opened last year on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi.
(I can’t even remember how many times I put it off - I think we’ve been saying “let’s go” since Ramadan, haha.)
To be honest, neither my husband nor I usually go to tourist spots in Abu Dhabi or Dubai unless we have friends or guests visiting, so we’d just been thinking we’d go someday.
With all the talk about International Museum Day, it turns out admission to museums here is free this weekend.
We hate crowds, so we decided we had to go today, Friday, and just went for it.

Everyone we know - friends and people who’ve been there - rave about it, so I was curious,
but I also wondered if there was really that much to see about the history.
 

Buuuuut

 

It was way more amazing than I expected!

Designed by Norman Foster.
I heard it was inspired by the shape of the wings of the falcon, the country’s national bird.
Admission is 70 dirhams for adults. We were able to walk-in and get the tickets in the machine. 

As someone who works in architecture,
I was amazed by the design (personally, I found the interior more impressive than the exterior), the museum’s exhibition planning, and the attention to detail.
I also learned more about the history of Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates.

And man, money really does make a difference. 
I wonder how wonderful it would be if all the buildings here were built to this standard.

Anyone who’s ever been to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, or anywhere else in the UAE has seen his face at least once.
Whether you go to the airport, a hotel, a shopping mall, or anywhere else, you’ll find his portrait - it’s legally required to display it everywhere.

His face exudes an undeniable presence, radiating the vibe of a true leader.

I took so many photos, but they don’t do justice to what I saw with my own eyes - it’s such a shame.

Both the museum tour and the architectural tour were fun.
Another thing that impressed me was that all the staff were locals, and they were all young and friendly. 
I could feel their energy of pride.

A must-visit for anyone living in the UAE,
and a great place to visit if you’re interested in the Middle East.

If you’re interested in museums or landmark architecture, you absolutely, absolutely, absolutely must visit here.

Honestly, museum architecture wasn’t a field I was interested in,
but this place exceeded all my expectations and interests. Amazing!
